What it is
A longer, modified form of insulin-like growth factor 1 (83 amino acids). It binds poorly to IGF-binding proteins, so it stays active much longer than natural IGF-1.
What it's studied for
Widely used in cell culture, and studied for cell growth, muscle growth and metabolism. Prohibited in sport (WADA).
